Getting the boat ready

It’s been a while since I updated this website.  Why? Mainly because we haven’t been sailing since it has been winter here in Denmark.  We derigged Capri at the beginning of November and she has been lying at the dock looking a little forlorn ever since.

The other reason is that I’ve been busy installing a lot of things on board. So since I worte last, we installed a watermaker (makes fresh water from seawater), an inverter (makes 220V AC current from 12 VDC from the batteries), A Pactor modem (allows us to send/receive e-mail via our short wave radio), A targa bar on the stern (for mounting solar panels etc), and a radar unit on the targa bar.

Yes the money is flowing out like just like the federal govenment. Sailors like to talk about a “boat buck”, and the common joke is “What does BOAT stand for?”

Break Out Another Thousand

Similar jokes (landlubbers think they are jokes – boat owners know them to be universal truisms):

Owning a bot is like standing under a cold shower tearing 100 dollar bills into small pieces.

The best days of a boat owners life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it.

A boat is a bottomless hole in the water, surrounded by wood into which you pour money.

Yes the joys of owning a boat are many, poverty being one of them. T took some pictures and thought you might like to see a bit of what I am doing.

Here’s what Capri normally looks like below decks:

And here is what she looks like right at the moment. This is called “work in progress”

Needless to say – Vinni is understaning, albeit not quite pleased.  Nest to be added – the solar panels and controller.

love to all
